I've just got through watching this week's episode of iMPACT! and I have to say they're beginning to test my loyalty. As you've probably guessed by now I'm referring to the slow destruction of the X-Division.
After a tie in the World X Cup, this week was the decider between Team U.S.A. and Team Canada. Team captains Chris Sabin and Petey Williams squared off with the winner taking the trophy for their team/country. I was really looking forward to the match. They'd had some great matches in the past. This also could have been a great one also but for some reason TNA's booking committee saw fit to ruin any enjoyment the viewers could derive from it.
Distraction #1: For some reason, which I certainly cannot fathom, the director cut from the action inside the ring to the Spanish announce table for a long period of time. They were starting some kind of angle with LAX and the Spanish announce table. Why couldn't this have waited until after the match? Was it that important?
Distraction #2: Shortly after cutting back to the ring it was time for the commercial break. I know commercial breaks are a necessary evil, but I was still P.O.'d from the LAX nonsense.
Distraction #3: While Sabin and Williams were busting their backsides in the ring, all Tenay and West were talking about was the "King of the Mountain" qualifying matches. I understand wrestling is built on hype but this had me reaching for the mute button. West was actually hyping KOTM while the finishing sequence was going down and it seemed like he only realized it because the bell rang. There is a time and place for hype but couldn't it have waited until after the match?
Distraction #4: I'll give you three guesses...Kevin Nash. This whole "I'm gonna destroy the X-Division" crap is stupid anyway, but why was he destroying Sabin after he'd just won the X Cup? Couldn't he have gotten the same effect by destroying Shark Boy?
TNA, you scored a big thumbs down from me this week. There's no excuse for crap like this. You're going to have to shape up before this thing starts snowballing...
