ECW on Sci-Fi.

Well it looks like the new ECW TV show is going to end up on the Sci-Fi Channel over here in the States. ECW on Sci-Fi doesn't have the same ring to it as ECW on TNN, but I'm ecstatic that it's going to be on national TV!

I'm originally from England and was nowt too pleased when I heard that ECW would be airing on TV in the U.K. I'm not begrudging people in the U.K., I was just green with envy! But now it seems we are going to get it over here so everything is fine and dandy. Sci-Fi hasn't released an official statement yet but it was reported on wrestlingobserver.com that it was just due to the McMahons wanting to give them the green light on it. I guess the mystery of Sci-Fi having a two hour wrestling special on Tuesday, May 30th is now cleared up.

Being a smart mark fan it is my duty to come up with something negative to say about this relaunch. My main gripe is that the current taping schedule will be that it'll be taped before WWE's SmackDown!. Now I'm not saying this won't change, but as a staunch ECW fan I can see the obvious pit falls of this. I really want to see it being taped in the ECW Arena, the Bert Flickenger Center in Buffalo, the War Memorial in Ft. Lauderdale... It's fine for it to have WWE TV production values (even the most hardcore ECW fan wanted those anyway) but lets just give it a little bit of authenticity folks.

Right now it seems ECW will have one PPV a year. That's great, but I hope WWE can find it somewhere in their heart to afford them a few more. How about canning Unforgiven and resurrecting Anarchy Rulz? Get rid of that awful Cyber Sunday and give us the November 2 Remember. And what about Living Dangerously in March?

It's an exciting time to be an old school fan right now!
